My 15 Favourite Beauty Discoveries of 2015

There's something so satisfying about trying a new product and it being so darn good that it makes its way into your favourites list. This year I'm putting all my favourite beauty discoveries into one post, however I did it find it quite difficult to keep it at only 15 products, but I'm very, very happy with the final cut. In no particular order...

The only dry shampoo I used last year since getting my first one in a beauty box is the COLAB Dry Shampoo. It isn't the cheapest on the high street, but I love the lightweight formula, the sophisticated scents and the fact it adds a bit of volume to my hair too.

For the last few months I have been obsessed with the Roger and Gallet Fleur de Figuier Hand Cream*. It has a balmy yet creamy texture that softens, moistures and protects, plus it smells AMAZING. One of my favourite scents ever.

I added some beautiful perfumes to my stash last year, but my favourite has to be the Jo Malone Wild Bluebell Cologne; fresh and floral and super sophisticated. The fact I wore it on my wedding day makes it extra special for all the memories it triggers every time I wear it.

Maybelline released a new mascara in 2015 called Lash Sensational and in doing so, presented me with my perfect mascara. It lengthens, defines, curls and adds volume, staying put all day with no flaking or smudging. I'm currently on my second tube and will re-purchase in a heartbeat.

Another of my favourite makeup discoveries is also from Maybelline, but this time it comes in the form of the Eye Eraser. This has the perfect balance of concealing and brightening my dark circles, with a creamy formula that's not too thick and so blends into the skin with little effort.

In February I finally gave in and splurged on the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation and have just opened my second bottle. I love the buildable medium to full coverage it gives and the satin matte finish that gives the look of naturally glowing skin. Plus it's non-comedogenic so doesn't break out spot prone skin like mine.

Around the same time, I also splurged on the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Boy for my wedding day. A gorgeous nude pink with a very fine shimmer, it feels like a balm, has the shine of a gloss but enough pigmentation to make it a lipstick. Perfection.

Last year I had a full on affair with cream eyeshadow sticks and the KIKO Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadows were the ones I got the most wear out of. I have the shades 05 Rosy Brown and 06 Golden Brown and both are ultra pigmented, creamy and stay on the lids all day without primer.

Speaking of primer, the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer SPF15 just had to be in this post, because it completely lives up the the hype. It is without a doubt the best primer I've tried for keeping foundation looking fresh and flawless all day. It's just oh so expensive (*bank balance cries*).

Onto skincare now and first up is La Roche-Posay Serozinc. This toner is great for breakout prone skin as it soothes and calms and I find it helps my spots heal and clear up much faster.

Another skincare discovery in 2015 was the Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturiser. The gel-cream formula completely re-balances my oily/combination skin and gives it a bit of oomph when it's looking dull and lacklustre.

Another product that's been boosting radiance and reviving my skin is the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel. I mostly reach for this in the mornings and love taking the time to massage this balmy gel into my skin. As well as cleansing, it gently exfoliates and helps to reduce inflammation.

I also couldn't not mention the DHC Cleansing Oil, because it's my top pick for my first cleanse at night. It removes my base and eye makeup effortlessly. Add a little water and it emulsifies into a milk to leave clear, soft skin.

2015 was the year I discovered Antipodes serums and my favourite was the Worship Superfruit Antioxidant Serum*. It's ideal for oily skin as it's super lightweight and quick to absorb, but still packs a really nourishing punch. Plus the berry scent is divine!

Last but certainly not least of the bunch, is the Soap and Glory Make Yourself Youthful Sunshield Superfluid SPF50+. The fruity scent, the mattifying formula and the barely there tint that prevents the dreaded white cast, means it's a winner in my books.

Are you a fan of any of my 15 favourite beauty discoveries of 2015? Which products made your cut?

  1. So many products on here that I need to go and try for myself now! I also fell in love with Chanel's coco shine lipsticks, and Boy is on my wishlist for 2016. I also really really liked using the Antipodes Worship Serum, but I think I may have found something that's better from a brand called My Chelle (in their dry/dehydrated range) so that might be worth checking out :)

Thanks for a lovely year of amazing content - your blog is always one of my favourites! (sorry for not commenting more often) xxx

  7. I have heard so many people rave about Origins' GinZing moisturizer, and I've been putting off buying it because of how expensive it is compared to drugstore moisturizers; but, I think after reading this I will definitely have to re-consider.

  11. I'm currently trying out a sample of the Antipodes Divine facial oil and I really like it but I love the sound of the berry scent of the Superfruit one. I have dry rather than oily skin but my skin struggles to absorb most products anyway so lighter ones are fine x
