What's in my Handbag - The Wedding Edit

Just over a week ago I was Maid of Honour for my beautiful best friend. It was an absolutely amazing wedding day and I'm a little sad now that I have no more weddings scheduled for this year. My handbag for the day was a beautiful ivory lace clutch bag from BHS that matched the shoes that myself and the other bridesmaids wore. (Our dresses were floaty, mid length in a gorgeous peachy colour, with an ivory lace overlay on the top half.) The bag is a good size, though I only just managed to get all my essentials in that I needed wanted!

L' Oreal Elnett Satin Supreme Hold Infinite Shine Hairspray - I had my hair curled in a half up half down style and so I gave my hair a few spritzes of this L'Oreal hairspray throughout the day to stop the curls from dropping. It worked really well and I even had pretty waves still the next day.

theBalm Sexy Mama Anti-Shine Translucent Powder & Eco Tools Retractable Kabuki Brush - My worst nightmare is having an oily, shiny face in photos, so there was no doubt this duo was going in my bag. They're both compact and the powder is pressed, so application doesn't get messy and it's translucent, so doesn't add any extra colour as it mattifies.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer - The MUA used mostly Jane Iredale makeup (I used my own mascara and lipstick) but I wanted to still take my trusty NARS concealer in case I needed a top up! Especially as it's good for both dark circles and blemishes.

Bourjois Contour Clubbing Eyeliner in Up and Brown - I had a Jane Iredale cream eyeliner in brown applied across my entire upper lid and half way across the bottom lashes. I had a feeling it would fade across the bottom, which it did, so I'm very glad I popped this kohl one in my bag!

Dr PawPaw Original Balm* - I get dry lips really easily, so I'm never without a lip balm. This one doesn't add any colour and actually absorbs into the lips rather than sitting on top of them. It can also be used on the skin and nails, so was handy for some dry skin that decided to appear around my nose. I was surprised to see it contains Petrolatum as it is very hydrating, however it does also contain Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Olive Fruit Oil and Papaya.

Chanel Coco Rouge Shine in Boy - For me, this is the ultimate wedding lipstick, whether you're part of the bridal party or a guest. The pink nude colour is subtle but enhancing, giving the lips a soft glow thanks to the fine shimmer. The formula is moisturising and although it's not very long lasting, it is the type that can be applied without a mirror. Well worth the splurge.

I also squeezed in a small mirror, Ibropufen, a couple of plasters and a packet of chewing gum. I didn't bother with my phone as my husband had his - so he took the photos and my family have his number in case of emergency. What I also had but isn't pictured, was the bride's mascara in case of tears!! She did well though and kept it together, though the groom welled up a few times!

  1. Awww!! :D I only have one wedding this year! I tried to buy some Dr. PawPaw from UO but every single one (there was about 30 on display in various shades) had a broken seal! :O No thanks.

  2. That sounds like a wonder clutch you had there, I can barely fit my phone and a comb into mine on a good day haha!

    1. It's quite a long and deep clutch so it managed to fit the rounded products in easily at the bottom. It was just a bit of a squeeze with everything else! xx

  5. I love a wedding!! It's always a long day though with a small clutch so definitely good to make sure you have all your essentials with you! I would take a comb for my unruly hair, an eyeliner, a bronzer/blusher and brush, a lip product and concealer. So pretty much almost the same as you!

I am keen to try Chanel Boy out now from your description. I have Chanel Mademoiselle which I love but which sounds like it's a bit darker than Boy.

    1. I would have taken a comb if it wasn't curly. I will have to post some swatches of it xx

  7. I work at a wedding venue, with weddings every weekend I'm guaranteed to be asked for safety pins. I love it when the bride leaves a survival bucket in the toilets - they are the organised ones!

  8. I love weddings! I haven't been to one in years. I think I need to find some people and make them get married so I can go (and have a good cry!)
