A Spritz of Moisture: Hydrating Toners

One skincare step I never miss day or night is a spritz of hydrating toner. I use a hydrating toner after cleansing and exfoliating and also through the day if my skin needs a little pick me up. They're an essential part of restoring the pH balance of the skin, which is upset after cleansing and helps with the absorption of the serum or moisturiser that follows. Plus they're so quick and easy to use, they won't add much time to your existing skincare routine. These are my current hydration helpers.

The One to Refresh and Revive - Green People Toning Hydrating Mist
Green People are one of those really reliable brands you can depend on for effective skincare and this toner doesn't disappoint. Containing Marshmallow, Aloe Vera, Rose Water and Orange Blossom, a few sprays of this equals refreshed and revitalised skin with a scent to match. It is also very cooling and soothing on the skin, which is perfect for warm and humid days or evenings. However, I find the spray itself is a bit too heavy and concentrated to use over makeup.

It can be hard to find products for oily skin that strike the right balance of eliminating oil but delivering hydration, but this one from Therapi hits the spot. With 75% organic ingredients, it contains astringent Witch Hazel Water, balancing Orange Blossom Flower Water and rejuvenating Calendula and Rose Water. I also love the glass bottle - a classic and chic addition to any dressing table.

The Sensitive Skin Soother - Mount Purious Rosewater Facial Toner
Containing just 100% organic Rosa Damascena Flower Water, this light spray is the one I reach for on sensitive skin days due to its anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Plus having one single ingredient makes for a very mild and non-irritating formula. The rosy scent is such a lovely pick me up for summer too.

Designed for dry and mature skin, if you just need simple hydration then this toner is your man (or woman). Bursting with Rose, Camellia, White Tea, Palmarosa and Rose Geranium, this is definitely a mist rather than a spray as it's so, so light. However it still manages to be nourishing yet gentle, with no astringent or heavy ingredients.

This was my first ever toner and is essentially my first love. It does it all and is such a light spray that it can be used on bare skin or over makeup. It contains a wealth of naturally active ingredients including Cucumber and Calendula Extracts, Geranium and Chamomile Essential Oils, Aloe Vera and Glycerin. All of these work together to make one very hydrating, calming, refreshing and re-balancing formula.

Which hydrating toners do you rely on for a spritz of moisture?
