As many of you know I recently became a Mrs (two months ago today to be exact) and I realised that the "happiest day of your life" cliché really isn't exaggerated! It had been 18 months of a rollercoaster of planning (almost seems crazy for one day doesn't it), but it all came together just as I'd hoped and was everything I wanted it to be. I'd been with my other half 11 years prior to the wedding and now I can't to spend the rest of my years with him as his wife. Anyway, enough of the soppy stuff, this post is really all about beauty - my wedding makeup, hair and nails!
I had my nails done the day before the wedding with my bridesmaids by a local nail technician. As my dress was simple - lace with no bling or other detailing apart from a satin band - I knew I wanted glitter on my nails! The technician used the Gelesse gel range, which is cured by UV light and so is extremely long lasting (no worrying about chips on the day!). The base was a pearly, nude pink with gradient silver glitter on the tips and the two looked perfect together. I was so sad when the gel grew out and had to be removed. Unfortunately I forgot to ask our wedding photographer to specifically take a photo of my nails, so I only have this one below from my iPhone.
I was so happy when my hairdresser agreed to style my hair for the wedding - she's so talented and her own hair always looks impeccable. I grew my hair for the wedding so I could have a loose, wavy up do. Initially I wanted more of a bun, but I'm happy I didn't as I much prefer how it was pinned it up; it looked much softer and a little boho. We also added in some small, subtle plaits on either side and backcombed the crown to give a bit of oomph. She left out some wavy tendrils to frame my face and finished the style with real wired flowers from my florist; two sprigs of gypsophila and one ivory rose, which co-ordinated with the buttonholes and bouquets.
My makeup was done by my friend and fellow blogger Alessia (see her fashion and beauty blog here). It was so nice having her there for that part of the day; we chatted as she did my makeup and it completely put me at ease! We did a trial beforehand and my makeup "spec" was natural and fresh, with soft pink lips and cheeks, but defined eyes with a hint of shimmer and some individual lashes. We agreed on brown shades for the eyes to create definition, as black would be too harsh and dark for the look I was after.

I was lucky that I had hardly any spots on the day, just a few small ones; it was mainly scars we had to cover. The makeup held out so well for the day and evening, I only patted on powder a few times for fear of looking oily and shiny in photos! I know that the makeup I went for won't age and when I look back at the photos in 10, 20 or 50 years time (scary) I'll still love the makeup I chose.
