A Wedding Makeup Haul

If you caught my recent Wedding Pinspiration: Hair, Makeup and Nails post, you'll know that for my wedding makeup I'm after a fresh, natural look that's very Spring orientated - flawless skin, soft pink cheeks, nude-pink lips with a slight sheen, a neutral coloured eye with shimmer and definition, brown eyeliner and some individual lashes. I'm not doing my own makeup, but I'm still supplying some of my own products to achieve the look, mainly for the base and lips. This is because a) I'm quite fussy about what base products go on my skin due to it being a spot prone nightmare and b) it makes sense to use my own lipstick so I can carry it with me on the day for any necessary touch ups. This of course meant some spending was in order, but I know it'll be oh-so worth it.

First of all I headed to my nearest Space NK to re-purchase the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla, because I know I can rely on this to cover every single imperfection and dark circle that foundation doesn't quite hide. Speaking of foundation, I finally indulged in the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Mont Blanc after trying a sample a few months ago. I decided this was an ideal foundation for my wedding day because it's SPF free (so won't flashback on camera) and has medium, buildable coverage that still looks natural and gives a subtle radiance to the skin. I also bought the NARS Foundation Pump for Sheer Glow because there's no way I'm pouring foundation onto my hand when using it on a day-to-day basis. Believe me, most of it would end up on everything but my face.

For lips I headed to Chanel - where else? There's just something about that sophisticated black packaging and iconic logo that makes me swoon before even getting to the product inside. I've had my eye on the Coco Rouge Shine in Boy ever since seeing Fleur de Force's wedding video - the pale pink shade with a very fine shimmer is perfect to make my lips look, well, like they're still mine but just better! Plus the formula is described as moisturising with a high shine finish, which fits my Spring bill to the latter. Before the sales assistant at Chanel applied Boy, she applied a layer of the Le Crayon Levres Precision Lip Definer in Beige Satin, a creamy lip pencil that gave my lips added definition and should make the Coco Rouge Shine last that bit longer on the day. This double ended pencil has a lip brush on one end and also comes with a sharpener. This is makeup that almost looks too good to use... *insert lots of heart eyed emojis here*.

Finally I was in need of a talc free, pink toned, powder blusher as my existing Frat Boy Blush by theBalm is too peachy toned for the look I have in mind. I was extremely lucky to have the wonderful brand Green People offer to send me their Mineral Powder Blush in Rose, which is the most beautiful soft, dusky pink. They also sent me their Lip Primer, which sounds absolutely amazing and is nothing like I've ever come across before. It looks like a clear balm in the tube and is designed to nourish the lips, enhance the colour of the lip shade on top and increase the wear time of that lip shade. I'm so excited to see if this lives up to its claims!

I will of course do full reviews of all these products in the future, so watch this space!

Are you a fan of any the products in this post? What makeup did you or will you use on your wedding day?

  6. Good grief Sasha this is so exciting - you're going to look amazing - hope we'll get to see a pic or two! Must admit I'm intrigued by the lip primer! Can't even remember what make-up I used on my wedding day (how bad is that - although it is 18 years!) - I do remember I had an Estee Lauder lippie and made the wedding car turn back home as I'd forgotten my eyelash curlers! xx

  9. How exciting! I loved Fleur's make up for her Wedding too - Boy is such a beautiful shade!

I'm engaged, but so far we've not planned anything just yet, but I think I'll be going for just a natural, dusky rose look! Can't wait to start planning it all, but I doubt we'll do anything for at least a year yet!

  12. How exciting, it's not long now is it? I would definitely get somebody else to do my wedding makeup for me as I'm really not that good but I'd probably also supply my own products. I wouldn't want any MAC foundation to be used resulting in me breaking out before the vows had been exchanged! x

    1. There was no way I'd be able to do it myself - too much pressure! Yep there was no way MAC foundation was going on my face - mine would react just as bad!! xx
