When it comes to skincare I can be quite fussy about what I use, however I've found some real gems this year, which I can't wait to share. Don't you love it when you find something that works for you?! (If you missed it, you can also find out my favourite makeup discoveries of 2014 here.)
It feels like I've been using the REN ClearCalm3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser (review) for forever; I can't imagine it not being in my life! The thick, creamy formula works great as a second nighttime cleanse as it removes excess oil but keeps skin hydrated, whilst being incredibly soothing on painful breakouts.
Another cleanser I've loved this year is the Green People Gentle Cleanse and Makeup Remover (not pictured) (review), which does just what it says on the bottle! It's another thick, creamy formula, which gently removes my makeup and leaves my skin super soft and moisturised. I could massage this into my skin for hours! I need to hurry up and buy another bottle.
I use toner every day, morning and night, and my hydrating toner of choice has been the Organic Surge Orange Flower Toner (review). I still can't believe that a 200ml bottle of 98.89% natural ingredients is under £10.00 at only £7.50 (though the price has gone up by a pound recently - cheeky). This leaves my skin refreshed and soothed, ready for a serum to be applied.
After toner at night I've been regularly reaching for the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo[+] (review), which I use as a serum before moisturiser/facial oil. This is the best anti-blemish product I've come across to date - it helps reduce the appearance of breakouts brilliantly (though it is a bit slower with those cystic type nasties) and has even improved my skin's texture in places.
In 2014 I added a new facial oil to my stash after realising there was a gaping hole for a pure Rosehip Oil; enter the Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil (review). When in conjunction with regular exfoliation, this bright orange and very concentrated oil helps to reduce my red scars much quicker.
HealGel Face* (review) has been such a great discovery for me this year because I've never really fallen in love with a moisturiser until now. The ingredients include Omega 3 Oils and Hyaluronic Acid, which among others, help to re-balance my skin, boost my hydration levels and soothe and improve my breakouts, all at the same time!
Speaking of breakouts, when they rear their ugly heads I've been using the brilliant Elemental Herbology Face Detox Purifying Mask (review) to help stop them in their tracks. This clay based mask is great at reducing inflammation, especially with lumpy, cystic-esque spots, but doesn't dry out or irritate my skin.
I've definitely found some real keepers this year, though I still can't wait to discover more skincare goodness in 2015! What have been your favourite skincare discoveries of 2014?
