After being intrigued by The Body Shop Facial Massager and the concept of facial massage for awhile, when I finally went to buy it it was just my luck that it was out of stock for absolutely ages. However I finally found it in store and it's one of those beauty tools I didn't know was missing so badly from my life.
The Body Shop Facial Massager looks a little bit like a mini paint roller, apart from the rolling part of it is covered in lots of nodules. These nodules are designed to massage the skin without dragging or damaging it and encourage the absorption of skincare products. Facial massage also encourages blood flow and circulation, which is meant to help the healing process and generally contributes to healthier skin. The massager costs just £6.00.
I generally use The Body Shop Facial Massager in the evenings as the final part of my skincare routine after applying a facial oil. Facial oils tend to take longer to absorb than serums and moisturisers, so the massager gives the oil a helping hand. The Body Shop recommends using the massager in forward and backward motions, vertically on the forehead and then diagonally across the cheeks and chin. I do find it hard to get a grip on the forehead, but it works brilliantly well on the rest of my face. The nodules feel quite firm across the skin but not painful or uncomfortable in any way; I actually really enjoy using this! I always finish using the massager in a downwards motion, because this is meant to help lymphatic drainage, which carries away waste toxins from the skin tissue back towards the heart. Lymphatic drainage is meant to promote clearer skin, so anything that helps with that I am all for! I find that after using The Body Shop Facial Massager my skin has a gorgeous, healthy glow, with the products I use beforehand definitely working more effectively, especially in terms of hydration and redness. So although I'm not 100% sure yet if it reduces breakouts directly, it definitely makes my skin looks brighter and clearer. I prefer not to use it when I have any open spot wounds (e.g. if cleansing with a muslin cloth has removed whiteheads), because I don't want to risk spreading bacteria.
So in summary, your other half may look at you with much confusion when using The Body Shop Facial Massager, but it feels so nice and makes your skin look so much healthier, that you really won't care. If you use facial oils on a regular basis (or heavy serums/moisturisers that take awhile to absorb) then you need this - you just won't realise it until you try it! It can be bought online from The Body Shop here.

I had the same problem. You might be more likely to find it in store. Good luck! xx
DeleteI think I may have to get this. I have this strange problem that even though my skin is dry/dehydrated it has trouble absorbing products and is easily overloaded. This sounds like the perfect tool to try and help my skin absorb the products that it needs but doesn't seem to want to accept! x
