Happy New Year everyone and hello to my first post of 2014! I made some beauty resolutions last year and didn't do too badly with them - I managed to be braver with lipstick, sort out my brows and treat/strengthen my nails. So I thought I'd make some new ones this year and see how I get on.
Makeup
1. Achieve the perfect smokey eye. This was also one of my beauty resolutions for 2013, which I never met, so I'm keeping it again for 2014. I just need to sit down and actually take the time to look at YouTube tutorials, then sit down and experiment. I'm so tempted to treat myself to a new eye palette to do so...
2. Be braver with colour. I'm much more confident with lip colour now (though this could still improve - especially in the daytime), but in 2014 I'd like to be more confident with eyeshadow and cheek colours. I always stay in my comfort zone and stick with the same sort of shades, so I need to be more adventurous!
Hair
2. Experiment more with hairstyles. I never do much with my hair - it's generally down or tied up. As it gets a bit longer it'll be easier to do more with it too. I especially want to get savvy with using straighteners to creates waves and curls. Unless someone wants to buy me the Babyliss Curl Pro?! *dreams*
Nails
1. Get the nail varnish remover out quicker! I am so bad at taking off nail varnish - I leave horrible chipped nail varnish on for days and days, picking it off every so often, before I can actually be bothered to remove it properly with nail varnish remover. I'm even worse with the time I take to remove it from my toes. I need to get some nail pride!
Skin
1. Clear(er) skin. This is probably my biggest resolution, but also probably the hardest. I am so fed up with my skin, I've had spots since I was 12, which was classified as mild acne at one point. 14 years later I'm still struggling with it; it's up and down like a yo-yo. I've been thinking about this even more since I got engaged, because the last thing I want is to be worrying about spots on my wedding day. So hopefully in the early part of next year (money allowing) I'll sort a trip up to Birmingham and Samsara Skin, a natural and organic skin clinic, who take a holistic approach to skincare and believe in curing skin issues rather than just treating the symptoms. I hope this will set the ball rolling!
When it comes to blogging I hope to carry on posting three to four times a week - I'd love to post every day but I just don't have the time. I'm planning a little blog re-design to freshen it up, as I've had the same one now for about a year and a half, so watch this space! Thank you to everyone who followed and read my blog in 2013, it wouldn't still be here without you!

I managed to grow my hair a good couple of inches in 2013. My tips would be to leave your hair longer between washes and use a good conditioner.

Thanks for the tips Hayley :-) xx
DeleteCouldn't agree more about the smokey eye goal, I can't seem to master it either. Practise makes perfect as they say.

I need to make more time to practice, that's half my trouble! xx
DeleteI definitely am with you on smoky eye look! In 2013 I stuck with my resolution of using eyeshadows more and 2014 has to be about being more brave with smoky eye and perfect eyeliner!

DeleteGrowing my hair a little and getting it stronger is one of my resolutions and can I just say that I'm so glad you're bad with removing your polish Sasha - makes me feel better - I'm terrible! xx
ReplyDeleteSometimes I just can't be bothered to remove it, too lazy haha. Sounds like we're both on a hair mission! xx
Deletemy skin is issue too. To be honest, the best things that made a difference was prescription creams.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I've been there and done that :-( xx
