5 Beauty Things I'm Bad At

The lovely Angelica from One Little Vice did a post like this awhile back, which I loved reading, so I thought I'd share with you today the beauty things I'm just pretty darn bad at!

1. Make-up Free Days
I'm pretty happy going out without mascara or blusher, but going out with no foundation, concealer and powder is a big no-no for me. If even I don't want to see my spots and scars in all their glory than I definitely don't want anyone else to see them! This is also why I'm terrible with make-up free days when I'm staying at home. If by some miracle my spots disappear forever then I'll start going make-up free, but until that happens I just can't bring myself to do it even though I know it's good for my skin!

2. Washing Make-up Brushes
I'm so bad with remembering to do this and/or making the time to do it. I get to the point where I think the brushes need washing, so I put them aside and start using my fingers to apply my foundation and the like, but it will take me days or even a week to actually get round to washing them. I think I need to try and form a routine so it ingrains into my memory e.g. make every Sunday night washing-my-makeup-brushes-night.

3. Symmetrical Winged Eyeliner
I find doing winged eyeliner so frustrating and time consuming that I haven't done it for ages, which is a shame because I love how it makes my eyes stand out. I use liquid eyeliner in pen form, which I think makes it slightly easier because I find a pen more controllable, but I still struggle. Does anyone have any tips on this?

4. Body Care
The amount of time I devote to facial skincare is unwavering and I have a routine that I follow strictly every morning and night. Yet I totally neglect the rest of my body and have yet to form or stick to a body care routine. My body must be crying out for regular exfoliating and moisturising, the poor thing. I have so many body moisturisers and butters so it's not like I don't have an excuse!! Oops.

5. Removing Nail Varnish
I find taking off nail varnish such a chore that I leave it as long as possible. However this means I will wear the same nail varnish on my toes for a month and sport tatty looking chipped nail varnish on my hands as I go about my day-to-day life. Not a pretty sight huh? Excuse me while I go and hunt for my beauty shame, which I seem to have none of...

What beauty things are you bad at? I'd love to know.

  3. Loved this post. I'm with you when it comes to no-makeup days. I don't mind pottering around the house with no makeup on, but going out the house without my foundation and concealer isn't a thought that appeals. xxo

  4. This was such a great post :) you should maybe challenge yourself to one day a month make up free and embrace the facial freedom! haha! I'm awful at removing my makeup... as bad as that sounds! i regularly forget to take it off! Oops! I'm just as bad with nail varnish, to the point I'd rather pick it at throughout the day than sit and remove it properly! Haha. Ah well :) we're all secretly just as bad ;)

    1. Thank you, I'm so glad you liked it! That sounds like a fair challenge, one day a month should be pretty achieveable!
I'm glad it's not just me that is bad at taking off their nail varnish haha xx

  5. I hardly ever take nail polish off my toes, they're a right state at the moment with tiny flecks left on! I'll never wear makeup unless I'm leaving the house though, no point! xx

  7. Haha! Some of these are the same for me - I often spend a day without make-up (today is one of those days actually) and winged liner is a challenge and a half. More often than not I just don't bother with winged eyeliner because I find it such a faff. Thanks for linking me in this post as well, I'm really glad you enjoyed my post enough to write your own :) xx

  8. Love this Sasha - you know I'll want to do it myself and it will take me 6 months or so! I'm with you on the make-up brushes and nail polish removal all the way - fingers not so bad but can't tell you how long the polish has been on my toes for! Make-up free means no mascara for me and that's never going to happen! xx

    1. I can't wait to read it Jenny, even if it's in 6 months hehe. The mascara I can deal with but foundation - no way! I dread to think how long my current (toe)nail varnish has been on for!xx

  9. I can relate to some of these for sure! I've gotten into a bad habit of wearing some make-up everyday, even though I know I shouldn't. It's usually a light base like a BB Cream or something, but I should probably do without it for at least a day a week...! x
