Le Volume de Chanel mascara is my first ever item of Chanel makeup! Very exciting! Recently Stylist magazine were giving away free sample sizes of this mascara on their website and I was lucky enough to get one before they ran out. The full size Le Volume de Chanel mascara will set you back £24.00 and is available in shades Noir, Bleu and Prune.
Chanel say, "Instant volume and
intense curves from the first stroke with longer, plumper and thicker
lashes. Lashes are coated in deep colour, giving eyes a wide-open
effect. A shock result produced by the perfect union of brush and
formula: The brush, creates volume thanks to its smart design of
snowflake-shaped disks that are stacked and oriented for an ideal
finish. The quick-drying fluid formula helps build a customised volume
result."
The brush head has quite short bristles, which instantly made me wonder if Le Volume de Chanel would separate my lashes enough. It's better than I thought, but I do have to have a mascara wand to hand when applying just incase, as it can apply the formula quite thickly and clump some of the lashes together. In terms of volume - wow! Le Volume you certainly get! Not only that, it curls my lashes (and keeps them that way), and makes them look longer, for gorgeously fluttery eyelashes. The formula of this is quite "wet" and glossy - it makes me realise how other mascaras I've tried have formulas that are actually quite dry (e.g. Benefit They're Real, 17 Doll'd Up). However there is a negative - Le Volume de Chanel tends leave a smudge of black under my eyes by the end of the day and the occasional flake or two. So when wearing it I'm a bit more obsessed with checking my eye makeup than usual!
The Verdict
I think this is an absolutely fabulous mascara that makes my lashes look better than any other I've tried. However for £24.00 I would expect it not to transfer under my eyes at all. It's something I can live with, but in principle I'm not sure if I could bring myself to purchase it full size.
Have you tried Le Volume de Chanel mascara? What are your thoughts on this product?

Looks super nice! I've never tried a Chanel mascara before, but this one does look lovely. Your lashes look full in the picture, but it's a shame that it transfers throughout the day! I agree, for the price that should definitely not happen!
ReplyDeleteYeah I definitely think for the price it should stay on my lashes! Otherwise it would be love! xx
DeleteYup. Definitely see a punch of volume in the picture. Chanel generally makes excellent makeup and skin care. No, I take that back. Chanel makes excellent EVERYTHING. I think it's a great mascara to try.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review!

DeleteYou're eyes are such a gorgeous colour!!! M x
ReplyDeleteAw thank you! xx
DeleteYour lashes look lovely Sasha - I'd love to try a Chanel mascara but can't quite bring myself to pay out - one day ...!
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely an expensive purchase - not one that ill be making in a hurry unfortunately xx
DeleteI haven't tried a Chanel product before but I've been hearing a lot about the brand lately. I really like the volume the mascara gives you and holding the curl is definitely a big plus. Looks like a nice mascara. Thanks for sharing! Susannah (sparkle2day.com).
ReplyDeleteThanks for your lovely comment! I really do like this mascara but it's not the one :-( so great to be able to try it though xx
DeleteI got a sample from Stylist too and had the same problem with it transferring, argh! I love what it does for my lashes, but could never bring myself to a buy full size for that price & the transferring issue :( x

Completely agree with you hun! xx
DeleteOh no. I think I'm going to have to buy that. There are 2 chanel products that I feel far surpass any other brand: Their polishes and their mascaras. I believe they're worth every penny.
ReplyDeleteYour lashes look great!
I've never tried their nail polishes but would love to! Thanks for the lovely comment xx
DeleteI thought the same as you - disappointed! I was so excited to receive the sample as it was my first Chanel product but after using it I was left rather deflated! Excellent mascara to apply but after only a few hours it was smudgy and actual flakes of mascara were left under my eyes.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a shame isn't it! It's so nearly perfect!xx
