Review: nspa Beauty Balm

nspa is a brand exclusively available in Asda which offers a range of skincare and body products at seriously affordable prices. Unfortunately I don't have an Asda in my town, but I wish I did as they sell quite a few different ranges that you can't find in Tesco (my normal food shopping haunt).

nspa skincare products are numbered depending on the point at which you should use them in your skincare routine. Step 1 is cleanse, step 2 exfoliate, step 3 treat and step 4 moisturise. The nspa Beauty Balm is one that encompasses two steps in one go - treat and moisturise.

nspa say, "This multi-tasking formula combines steps 3 and 4 by treating skin with anti-ageing moisturisers for 12 hour hydration while providing medium colour coverage to give a natural, post-spa facial glow".

The ingredients include glycerine, hyaluronic acid, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. This Beauty Balm also contains SPF 15 and is advertised at being suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin. For a purse friendly £6.00 you get 50ml of product.

nspa Beauty Balm has a mousse like formula, which you really don't need a lot of as a little goes a long way, just like a moisturiser. The colour is quite dark and isn't available in different shades, so when I first swatched this I thought it just wouldn't work for me at all. However I was very surprised at how well it blends in, which I think must be due to the formula and the fact that the coverage isn't intended to be heavy. So instead of being left looking like I'd just tanned my face and nowhere else, I was actually left with a natural, dewy finish and a subtle glow to my skin, just as nspa promised! The coverage is good on small blemishes, but if you have some quite red or angry spots or scars (I do frequently), you're going to still need to do a fair bit of concealing for a flawless finish. The colour lasts about six or seven hours, but my skin still feels hydrated and healthy.

The Verdict
I think the nspa Beauty Balm is a great product for the price. If you want to cut down your time spent getting ready in the mornings, then this the perfect multi-tasker as it treats, moisturises and provides some coverage at the same time. However if you suffer with regular breakouts like me then the coverage isn't going to be enough - I personally prefer a high coverage base that requires minimal concealing afterwards. For that reason I don't tend to reach for this product on a daily basis, but it's a great product to have around.

  1. Aaah, been eyeing this for ages! I love the Asda own brand shower gels and scrubs - they are a bit of a body shop rip off, very similar scents and packaging but I have to say I may like them a tad more than the real thing lol x
