Review: Eden Scented Candle by Melt

I was lucky enough recently to be sent a luxury, scented candle by Melt to review. Melt wasn't a brand I'd heard of before this. Based in the UK, Melt candles are handmade and their fragrances are developed in house. Each candle is hand poured using blended, natural waxes and takes up to 36 hours to produce, containing a high percentage of pure fragrance. There are 30 different scents to choose from, each with a choice of different sizes and types of candle. I received Eden in the Luxury Glass Jar, which contains herbs, spices, precious woods and fig.

The candle comes beautifully packaged in a black box with a swirly, flowery design - very tattoo-esque. This design is also repeated on one side of the candle, with the Melt logo on the other. I don't think this design would be to everyone's taste, but I do think this makes the candle very unique. It definitely looks great on my coffee table!

I'm normally more of a fan of really fruity, sweet scents but I actually really like this scent! It's very creamy and fresh, woody but with a hint of sweetness, which I presume is the fig. When it's lit it doesn't take long for the scent to fill the room, yet it's not heady or overpowering. The Luxury Glass Jar candle should provide over 70 hours burn time.

Now for the price - this costs £21.00. This is quite eye-watering considering the size of the candle. However it is handmade and you can tell it's a high quality product, so a candle lover is sure to appreciate this for their birthday or other kind of special occasion. Unfortunately I don't think I could bring myself to spend this much on a candle, however I would definitely purchase the Room Scenter version for £8.00 or the Tall and Thin one for £14.95, which doesn't come in a glass jar but provides the same burn time. I would love to try some of their other scents too; I love the sound of Jasmine and Tuberose and Neroli and Rose Geranium.

Have you tried any candles by Melt? What's your favourite candle?

  4. The candle looks and sounds amazing, but I couldn't justify the price. Maybe I could convince someone to buy it for me for a birthday or something! ;)
