When it comes to blusher I am very boring - I have used the same powder blusher by Jane Iredale for years. So trying Benefit Fine-One-One was definitely interesting for me!
Benefit
Fine-One-One is a cream to powder formula described as "a sheer,
brightening colour for cheeks and lips". It comes in beautiful rose gold
packaging and comes in stick form that you twist up to apply. The stick
is split into three colours; pink champagne, sheer watermelon and soft
coral. Pink champagne is a pretty iridescent highlighter and the
watermelon and coral are quite matte and very bright! It's a fantastic
multi-tasker though; the name Fine-One-One is actually a play on words
for 9-1-1, so I guess this means in a cheek and lip emergency Benefit
are the ones you're gonna call! It retails at £23.50.
To apply, I swipe the stick across the apples of my cheeks and slightly up towards my temples. I then blend the colours together just by dabbing along the stripes with my fingertips. The creamy formula means it is really easy to blend and takes no time at all. It's surprising how sheer the colour is when you're done, because the coral and watermelon look so scarily bright in the tube, almost neon. I actually find that I need to swipe Fine-One-One across my cheeks a second or third time to get the pop of colour I like. Therefore I don't think darker skins wouldn't find this colour strong enough, although it is very buildable.

Unfortunately the one big negative of this product for me is the staying power. Despite the formula being cream to powder, I get half the wear time compared to my normal pure powder blusher. It lasts around four hours on me, five hours at the most. My skin type is oily/combination, so perhaps the formula of Fine-One-One just isn't suited to last on my skin type.
When it comes to lips, I really don't like the feel and finish of this on my lips. It's quite drying and just doesn't sit well, it seems to collect in all the cracks.
The Verdict
The big positives of Benefit Fine-One-One are that it's so easy to use, it's a blusher and a highlighter in one product so the perfect multi-tasker, plus I love the colour. However it's not good on lips and the staying power just isn't long enough for me. So unfortunately I won't be willing to spend £23.50 on this when it runs out. If your skin type is normal or more on the dry side, then perhaps you'll find this has a longer wear time so bear this in mind if you're thinking of buying it.

I love this product, it's so easy to use.. one swipe and a bit of blending and your done! No brushes or powder blushes that can be smashed in your handbag :D xx

I definitely agree with you on that point - my powder blusher broke up in my makeup bag recently :-( xx

It's definitely travel friendly! xx
DeleteNice to see a not 100% positive review on a product, very refreshing x
ReplyDeleteThanks Hayley! Honesty is the best policy :-) xx
DeleteGreat review. I have been unsure about this product & your post has confirmed my doubts. Something for me to avoid I think! I'm really enjoying MAC's Peaches, Bobbi Brown Slopes, Pale Pink, Pot Rouge in Powder Pink & Urban Decay's Naked Flushed palette - hmmm... naybe I have a little bit of a blusher problem!!!

Thank you! Haha you have a lot of blushers!! I'm really fussy with blushers xx
DeleteAw no it's a shame about the staying power not being so good! I use powder blush but I'd probably struggle with that too :( xx
ReplyDeleteIf the staying power was longer then it'd almost be perfect! I'm not too fussed on it as a lip product xx
DeleteThis is really pretty on you! Too bad the lasting power wasn't better :(
ReplyDeleteThank you, it does have a lovely flush of colour, if only it lasted! xx
DeleteNice to know what you actually think, and i wont be wasting my money on it, Was thinking about getting but I have changed my mind now!

I'm glad you found my review helpful :-) xx
DeleteThe second application creates such a nice flush on you! But the staying power is a bit of a shame, this probably wouldn't farewell on my skin either! xx
ReplyDeleteI definitely need the second application, the first isn't quite enough colour xx
DeleteI feel exactly the same about this product, i think it leans a bit far on the side of being gimicky but isn't a great product from Benefit, its very handy for carrying around though xx
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to know that I'm not the only one who thinks the same! It definitely was over hyped, but if it lasted longer I can see why people would love it xx
DeleteI agree with your review on this product. When I first saw it I thought it looked scarily orange, but I find it so hard to get the colour to even show on my skin when I blend it in x
ReplyDeleteIt blends so easily! At first I used a brush but that just seemed to make the colour even more sheer! xx
DeleteIt's a shame because it's such a good idea in principle - however it'd be no good for me with darker skin I reckon - pity the staying power isn't better too! xx
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely a good idea! Yeah I'm not so sure about darker skin - I'm seriously pale and the colour struggles on me! xx
DeleteIm really glad to see you have a review for this! I have been eying this product for a while undecided if it was worth the money!
