Review: DGJ Organics HairJuice Clarifying Shampoo and Conditioner

I have never tried any clarifying hair products before, nor ones containing organic ingredients, so I was really excited when DGJ Organics sent me their HairJuice Clarifying Shampoo and Conditioner to try.

Clarifying shampoos and conditioners are designed to remove build up from the hair, which is generated from using everyday hair products and hard water. According to the bottle; "Organic mandarin essential oils and rose extracts revitalise and cleanse hair to remove build up and impurities". The HairJuice Clarifying Shampoo and Conditioner are also free from SLS and parabens. I'm not particularly savvy when it comes to these ingredients, but I do know that SLS is a chemical that basically enables a product to lather or foam. Sensibly, it does warn you on the back of the shampoo bottle that it won't lather quite as much as you expect. This clarifying duo is suitable for all hair types.

Now I don't use a massive variety of products on my hair on a day to day basis, so although you can use this daily if you wish, I have been using it as a weekly treat. On the other days I wash my hair I've been using a Pantene shampoo and L'Oreal conditioner.

The first thing I noticed about these products is the gorgeous smell of mandarin, which is very similar to The Body Shop's satsuma scent. The HairJuice Clarifying Shampoo is a clear, thick liquid, which you are meant to massage into your scalp and then leave for about a minute before rinsing. It is harder to lather, which takes getting used to, but it really doesn't bother me at all. The HairJuice Clarifying Conditioner is a white creamy formula, but it's not the thickest, so if you have thick hair you may need to use a little extra!

So my verdict? These products really have converted me and I fully intend to make a clarifying shampoo and conditioner a permanent part of my weekly haircare routine. I also want to start using a SLS free shampoo and conditioner in between. After using these products my hair feels so soft, healthy and just weightless! It is so easy to see and feel the difference.

The HairJuice Clarifying Shampoo and Conditioner retail at £5.99 each for a 250ml bottle and can be purchased on the DGJ Organics website here. I think this is on the expensive side, but the product does do what it says on the tin so well and will last for ages.

I am also trying out their Berutti Oil at the moment and will do a full review soon!

Do you use clarifying and/or SLS free hair products? What would you recommend?

  7. These sound really lovely, you can't beat a nice fruity scent! It takes a bit of getting used to when a shampoo doesn't lather, but it's worth it if it means sparing our hair of chemical nasties. I've yet to try a clarifying shampoo that has converted me yet though, unfortunately.
