I got my hands on the Balance Me Rose Otto Intensive Lip Salve when it was free with Glamour back in the summer, and was lucky enough to win the Figs and Rouge Rambling Rose Lip, Face and Body Balm in a Twitter giveaway. But who wins for me in the battle of the rose lip balms? Let the battle commence!
Ingredients
Both lip balms are petroleum free and contain natural ingredients. Figs and Rouge is 100% natural and organic, certified by the Organic Soil Association. 100% of Balance Me's ingredients are derived from natural origins. Overall Figs and Rouge contains significantly less ingredients than Balance Me.
WINNER: Figs and Rouge
Packaging
The Figs and Rouge lip balm comes in a tin with a cute, vintage design, whereas Balance Me comes in a squeezy tube with a simple and modern design. I'm personally a sucker for cute and vintage!
WINNER: Figs and Rouge
Formula & Application
Figs and Rouge is a solid yet soft formula that you need to apply with your finger. It really melts into my lips, making them feel instantly hydrated. Balance Me has a similar formula but can be applied with the applicator, meaning it is more hygenic. I find that this product feels like it sits on your lips for a lot longer before absorbing and to me, it feels a little greasy. However it does hydrate my lips just as wonderfully as Figs and Rouge.
WINNER: Formula - Figs and Rouge / Application - Balance Me
Flavour/Scent
Obviously they are both rose scented/flavoured, but Figs and Rouge is a lot more subtle. It took me a little while to get used to the Balance Me scent as it is very strong and very different from the popular sweet, fruity scents of many lip balms.
WINNER: Figs and Rouge
Price & Size
The Figs and Rouge lip balms are £4.99 for an 8ml tin, whereas Balance Me is £12.00 for a 10ml tube. Obviously you get more product with Balance Me, but I'm not sure I could part with £12.00 for a lip balm! Figs and Rouge is much more affordable.
WINNER: Figs and Rouge
So the overall winner is clearly Figs and Rouge Rambling Rose Lip Balm! I really do like both of these products don't get me wrong, but Figs and Rouge seems to edge it on almost every one! It can also be used on face and body according to the tin, though I haven't yet used it on these areas. I think the two main winning points for me is the formula and the price.
Have you tried either of these lip products? Which is your favourite?

Hmmm...I'm interested in Figs and Rouge. I've never seen this. Is it sold in the U.S? For organic lip stuff, I like Burt's Bees.

I'm not sure if it's available in the US or not :s I've never tried Burt's Bees for lip balm, heard good things though! xx
DeleteGreat post Hun. I love Figs & Rouge balms. I haven't tried the Balance Me though yet. From the image though it looks a little glossy for me, so think ill stick with F&R x
ReplyDeleteThank you! :-) The Balance Me one definitely is more glossy, oops I should have mentioned that in the post really! xx
DeleteI love figs & Rouge! Can't bear any Balance Me products, I think originally they had this as a oil lip salve x
ReplyDeleteOil?! Not sure about the sound of that! You can definitely tell it contains lanolin in the Balance Me xx
DeleteThe tin is adorable, worthy to buy for the packaging alone!
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous isn't it! xx
DeleteI really did not get on the with the balance me one, I could smell the lanolin in it that seem for me to over power the rose. I wouldn't pay £12 for it (got mine in the Glamour freebiee). x
ReplyDeleteYou can definitely tell it contains lanolin can't you! It's very expensive for a lip product, I wouldn't either xx
DeleteI've never tried the Balance me one (although I have tried lots of their other products). I have the Cherry and Vanilla Figs & Rouge balm and I love it. So hydrating and I too am a sucker for the packaging :)

Ooh Cherry & Vanilla sounds gorgeous! Will have to try some of the other flavours :-) xx
DeleteWhen my lip balm stash has gone down (and it will one day, hopefully!), I'm going to pick up Rambling Rose, sounds lovely :)

I'd really recommend it :-) xx
DeleteI have both of these and love them both but for me Balance Me definitely wins as I find it sinks in nicer and quicker too :) xo
ReplyDeleteI didn't find that myself but products work differently for everyone :-) Both are great products! xx
DeleteI bought the Figs and Rouge lip balm awhile ago when it was on offer on Feel Unique, It was the cute packaging that got me! I would love to try some of their other skin care products but they don't seem to be available in Ireland anymore.
ReplyDeleteThe packaging is gorgeous isn't it! xx
