I bought the Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation after seeing it raved about on Never Too Broke for Beauty's blog as being great for spot prone skin. I was using a Cover FX foundation before, which I really loved, but it cost £37.00 and Vichy is only £15.50. So I thought I'd give Vichy a try and go back to Cover FX if I didn't get on with it.
The features of this foundation are impressive - and long!
- 24hr hydration
- Lasts for 16 hours
- High coverage of uneven skin texture, dark circles & diffused redness yet no mask effect
- Bare skin feel
- Paraben free
- Fragrance free
- Hypoallergenic
- Non-comedogenic
- SPF 35
I went for shade 15 Opal, which is the lightest shade in the range. It really isn't the lightest colour and I was a little worried about it suiting my uber pale skin, but it blends really, really well and doesn't look out of place at all.
I have to say, I LOVE this foundation (Cover FX who?). This absolutely does what it says on the box - it has a medium to thick consistency and the coverage is fantastic on spots and dark circles without feeling heavy or looking obvious on the skin. It glides on effortlessly and is easily buildable. I barely need concealer on the top! It has a matt finish yet seems to give my skin a radiant glow. It doesn't go cakey and without primer still looks amazing after an 8 hour working day! I haven't worn it for 16 hours though and I haven't tried it with a primer as my Maybelline one seems to be clumping up.
Now just to prove how good this is I've taken some before and after pictures of my skin - it really hasn't been good recently so I can't quite believe you're going to see it in all its makeup free, spotty glory!! This is without any concealer or powder on top.
The Verdict
This is my new favourite foundation because it is just perfect for concealing spots without making them any worse, which has been a god send for me during my recent breakout attack! I love how easy it is to apply, blend and build, giving me flawless looking skin. My only negative of this is that the shade range isn't very wide, so there may not be a shade to suit everyone.
What is your current favourite foundation?

This foundation looks really good. It is always difficult when you have a break out and feel you need foundation most, but don't want to make matters worse. Such a good price too. Thank you for sharing. x
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, it's hard to find many foundations marketed at covering spots specifically, whilst being non-comedogenic. Thank you for reading :-) xx
DeleteThat looks brilliant. I have been eyeing up the Vichy stick foundation on and off for months. If i run short of my current foundations i'm going to look into getting this.
ReplyDeleteBtw, i always break out around my chin and sides of mouth Eww.
Jules x
I was having quite a bad time of it in the pictures! Had a stressful, rubbish week - hence the breakout!
DeleteIf you buy it I hope you like it :-) xx
When you break out around your chin, it's normally due to time-of-the-month hormones, and the side which you break out is the side you're ovulating from that month.
DeleteGross, but true ;-)
That's really interesting to know! Thanks Ruth xx
Deletelooks so good, lovely coverage!

Wow! This has great coverage - I know someone who uses it as a concealer & then uses a lighter foundation elsewhere. Perfect for covering breakouts!

This is a great idea! When this awful breakout clears I may try this just as a concealer xx
DeleteThis looks great on your skin. I'm loving Revlon Colorstay at the moment. L has got this recently so I'll have to try hers x
ReplyDeleteI've heard that the Revlon Colorstay is pretty good :-) xx
DeleteLove this! I have the same issues you do and have acne to cover on my skin. I was a little concerned about the lack of options, but from what I have seen here, it does blend and match fairly well. This is my next product to get and try. Thank you for the great review.

Thank you so much for the lovely comment! I hope you love this as much as I do! xx
DeleteGosh this is amazing, I'm getting it this month !!!!
ReplyDeleteIt will take something truly magical to tear me away from this foundation now!xx
DeleteI've just purchased this myself. Can't wait to try as it looks great. How do you apply it?
ReplyDeleteHi Robyn, I use the Real Techniques Buffing Brush, it's so easy to use and gives a really great finish. Hope you like the foundation!xx
Deletethis looks great!! would you say Vichy Dermablend is more on the yellow side or on on the pink side?
ReplyDeleteI would say this is more on the yellow side than pink. I love it!xx
Deletethat's fantastic, thank you!! btw have you heard of the Unifiance Fluid Mat foundation by La Roche-Posay? i've been using it for months and i must say, this is one of the best foundations for oily/combination skin i've ever tried, esp. if you want a matte finish that looks natural. though now kind of looking for something with a dewy finish, but would definitely re-buy. i got it from a pharmacy in the lightest shade 01. now hope to find in the Vichy Dermablend my perfect concealer :) thanks once again!
DeleteI haven't, I didn't realise La Roche-Posay did foundation! I will definitely check it out online, thanks xx
Deletei used this as a cheaper alternative to double wear by Estee Lauder. The colour wasn't quite right for my skin (I used the same shade as you) and it didn't have a longevity as double wear, and definately isn't touch proof, but it does do the cover-up job well.
ReplyDeleteRuth xx
I'm intrigued by Double Wear because I know it's meant to be similar to Dermablend. Will have to try it one day xx
Deletehello thanks so much for the review. I bought this foundation based on your brilliant review. however, I was shocked to see that it contains parabens, albeit is says on vichy website it does not.
