I hate spots. Who doesn't? If you're a regular reader of my blog you'll know that I'm spot prone and my skincare routine is completely focused on trying to keep my skin as spot free as possible. So I was really grateful when Jenny from Metique, a brand of Australian Tea Tree Oil products, offered to send me a bottle of their 10% Blended Tea Tree Oil (25ml) to try as a spot treatment. Tea tree oil is a natural ingredient and well known for its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, therefore its treatment of spots, yet I've never actually tried it! Metique 10% Blended Tea Tree Oil also contains Vitamin C, Vitamin E and aloe vera.
All Metique products come gift wrapped and with free samples. I was so impressed by the packaging, it's so thoughtful and gives the product that personal touch. I didn't expect the samples either, so that was a nice surprise!
Metique 10% Blended Tea Tree Oil is a milky coloured liquid, with one of those thin, narrow dispensers so the liquid is released in controlled droplets. I've been using it at night over the last few weeks, applying it directly onto spots - you really don't need a lot!
So does it work? For me, this product is most impressive on whiteheads. It dries up whiteheads so effectively, they are reduced significantly overnight. If you have one of those spots that is just a little red lump to start with, but you can see that little dot of white threatening to get bigger and bigger, this stops the whitehead forming any more. The spot doesn't completely disappear - the actual red bump takes longer to go, but you won't have to put up with the horrible white top for very long. When it comes to those large, lumpy spots though, I do find that I need to use my Dermalogica Overnight Clearing Gel for a little extra oomph.
The Verdict
Metique 10% Blended Tea Tree Oil is a great little product that really does work, especially on whiteheads! It's not a miracle worker and I'm not sure that it works any quicker on clearing other spots than other products I've tried, but it only costs £7.14 so I will definitely buy this myself when it runs out. Though I think this will last me for absolutely ages! It's a multi-tasking product too, so I can use it on bites, stings and scratches as well!

What's your spot saviour? Have you ever tried a tea tree oil product to shift spots?

Teatree Oil is what I swear by for my spots, thought luckily they're only occasional now. The body shop do a good one although this one also looks fab!
ReplyDeleteI've looked at The Body Shop range before but just never tried it for some reason!xx
DeleteI like the sound of it. My skin is awful weird though so I'm not sure if it would actually work :/
ReplyDeleteMy skin can be a big pain too, everyone's skin is different so it might work for you but it might not, hard to know until you try xx
DeleteTea Tree Oil is such fab stuff! Love how it's a natural antiseptic that can be used for lots of other stuff too :)

I'll have to remember to use it on bites, scratches etc and see how it fares instead of the standard Savlon!!xx
DeleteGreat post. I've been following Jenny on Twitter for a while and she's so lovely. The products sound great :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I agree, she is so lovely to talk to xx
DeleteSounds like a great product, love the packaging as well xx
ReplyDeleteI didn't mention in the post but it has one of those child proof caps, sometimes I even struggle to open it haha. It is a fab little product xx
DeleteTea Tree is great for spots but my skin is too sensitive to use it. I prefer Manuka does the same job but it gentler on skin and has same antibacterial properties as tea tree :)
ReplyDeleteDo you just buy your standard jar of honey from Tesco? I love honey on toast and in drinks, but never thought about applying it to spots!xx
DeleteTea Tree oil is always a winner, I really need to get some this weekend as I have suddenly had a random breakout on my back!? Never had spots there before so all a bit odd, and I am keen to get rid quickly! I've got some lavender oil though so will probably use that for now as it does do the job.
ReplyDeleteHope you're well lovely :)

That is odd, maybe you used something in the shower that irritated it or something? I occasionally get little spots on my chest, usually because I've sprayed perfume on my neck and it's also landed just underneath :s Hate spots!xx
