Review: Betty Bouche Lip Scrubs by Betty Buff

I've wanted to try a lip scrub ever since reading blog posts about Lush's range of lip scrubs. However I never took the plunge and bought one from Lush as I thought £5.25 was a little expensive for such a small pot. Then I saw on Twitter that Betty Buff, who offer "sweet and sensitive skincare" made from only natural, plant based ingredients, were offering two Betty Bouche lip scrubs for £5.00. (They normally retail at £2.99 each.) This was just too good an offer to pass up! Especially as my lips have got really dry since the weather turned colder.

The two flavours are Strawberry Sauce and Honey Hot Lips and they smell divine! The ingredients are so simple - granulated sugar, shea butter and freeze dried strawberry and honey. If you're a DIYer this is probably something you could make yourself, but I'm just not that great at this sort of thing and I never seem to have much spare time! The scrub is fairly compressed into the tin so you do have to scrape it out and I have lost a bit of sugar out the side of the tin in doing so!

I've been trying to use these scrubs on my lips daily, following it up with my Figs and Rouge Rambling Rose Lip Balm. They're lovely to use and gently exfoliate, melting into your lips. Plus after you can lick it off and eat it! After use my lips look quite plump and feel soft. In the long term, these scrubs (in conjunction with lip balm) have definitely made a difference and I've experienced hardly any dryness since.

The Verdict
I'm really glad that I've added lip scrubs to my skincare collection - and they will definitely remain! I think these Betty Bouche lip scrubs are great value for money and I love the fact that they're so natural. Plus they really do work! My personal favourite is the Strawberry Sauce.

Do you use lip scrubs? Which is your favourite?

    1. I had a look at the Bubblegum one when I bought a face mask, it smells lush! Shame it dries up so quickly though! No danger of that with these :-) xx

  5. I think I need to try these. My lips are forever dry, nothing major but I feel that they need constant moisturisation (did I just make that word up!?) and I often have to buff them with a toothbrush. Lip products tend to cling to any dry patches too, which I know happens to everyone but I find it a real pain, as I can't seem to get them nice and smooth and keep them that way!
I like the sound of strawberry sauce, yum.
